Our Mission
The Evergreen End of Life Care Foundation of Michigan is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for individuals facing end of life challenges throughout the entire state including Washtenaw, Wayne, Genesee, Oakland, Macomb and Livingston counties. We provide financial support to individuals and families, ensuring access to essential end of life services such as end of life doulas and other non-insurance-covered services. Our commitment extends to fostering a culture of empathy, support, and advocacy, and promoting awareness and understanding of end of life care needs within Michigan and beyond.
Our Vision
Our vision is a compassionate world where every individual facing end of life challenges receives the care and support they need. We aspire to be a leading advocate for comprehensive end of life care, ensuring no family is burdened by the financial constraints of accessing critical services. Through education and outreach, we aim to empower the public with knowledge about end of life care options, fostering informed decision-making and enhancing the quality of end of life experiences for all.
History
The Evergreen End of Life Care Foundation of Michigan was founded in June 2024 with the goal of making end-of-life care accessible to everyone, regardless of their ability to pay. A person’s end-of-life experience can be affected by factors such as income, location, and race. While some insurance companies cover services like massage therapy, others do not. In some cases, insurance reimbursement rates are so low that they limit the number of providers willing to offer care. Additionally, insurance companies do not cover End-of-Life Doulas, meaning that individuals who cannot afford these services—or who do not have access to volunteer doulas—miss out on essential care and education.
At the same time, End-of-Life Doulas deserve fair compensation for their work. Evergreen was created to help bridge this gap, ensuring that clients and their families receive the care they need while providers are paid for their valuable services.

Past Presentations and Event
Even though we were only established in June 2024, the team at Evergreen has been actively involved in presentations, events, and expos. Through these activities, we strive to fulfill the second part of our mission: educating the public about their end-of-life options. These represent only the official Evergreen events—many of our board members also give additional presentations within the local community.
